Jensen wins Carmichael Cup, leads Warriors to second-place finish
Sterling College's Sondre Jensen led his team with a stellar performance at the Carmichael Cup, shooting a 3-under-par in the tournament's sole round, to lead the Warriors to tie for second place with Garden City Community College, shooting three over par as a team.
The Carmichael Cup hosted by Bethany College at the Salina Municipal Golf Course in Salina, Kam. was originally scheduled for three rounds but was cut down to one round due to weather delays. The course contains 6,521 yards with a par of 70.
Jensen led the team with an impressive score of 3-under par, tying for first place with Payne Wood of Park (MO) in the individual standings. Zach Surface also delivered a solid performance, finishing at even par and tying for eighth place. Their efforts were crucial in highlighting Sterling's competitive edge in the stroke play event at Salina Municipal GCS.
Anders Hermansen contributed to Sterling's presence with a final score of 2-over par, landing him in 18th place. Tobias Tajet finished with a score of 4-over par, while Thomas Castelblanco rounded out the Sterling team with a 5-over par.
On the women's side, Addelyn Patterson competed for Sterling. She shot 31-over par and finished in 29th place. Patterson will compete next week at the Central Christian Invite.
The Warriors will be back in action at the Bethel Invitational at the Hesston Golf Course in Hesston, Kan.
