Three Warriors win their division in Bethany Invitational
Sterling College Warrior Tennis started the fall season at the Bethany College Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 5-6. Due to weather, the doubles portion of the invitational was canceled.
Pedro Felipoff represented the Warriors in the Draw A section of the invitational. He took on Corvin Christ of Baker University beating him 8-3. He lost the following match 8-6 to Maxis Vervloes of Doane University. Felipoff bounced back in the third-place match against Kansas Wesleyan University's Adam Hansen winning 8-3.
Adam King took on Diego Infante of Doane University in the first match of the Draw B section winning 8-3. He then lost to Sebastian Stipanov of Bethany College, 8-3, and then lost the third-place match to Arturo Nunez of Baker University, 8-6.
Kazuki Fukushima represented the Warriors in the Draw C section of the tournament. He beat Dylan Gwilt of Bethany College 8-5 and then beat Jack Hanson of Kansas Wesleyan University, 8-4 to advance to the championship match. He then lost 8-5 to Diego Bsereni of Bethany College to finish as the runner-up.
In the Draw D section of the invitational, Fernando Vargas won his opening match against Tabor College's Isaac Yourdon, 8-1. He then beat an unattached Carlos Rodriguez Rivas 81 to advance to the championship match where he beat Immo Fergen of Baker University, 8-6.
Teammate Rubem Bogomolz also won the Draw E section of the tournament starting with a win against Andres Salazar from Doane University, 8-0. He went on to beat Felix Rodriguez from Kansas Wesleyan University 8-0 to advance to the championship match where he beat Bethany College's Alexjandro Rico Moran 8-4.
Robin Baransi also won his division in the Draw F section. He started with an 8-4 win over Adam Everatt of Kansas Wesleyan University followed by an 8-1 win over Miles Mollring of Doane University. In the championship game, Baransi faced Christian Jensen of Doane University beating him 8-2.
The Warrior's next event is Tuesday, Sept. 16 against Pratt Community College in Pratt, Kan.
