School record, personal bests broken at Fred Beile Classic
CRETE, Neb. – Sterling College Track and Field competed in the Fred Beile Classic hosted by Doane University on Saturday, Feb. 7. Jones had another breakout performance breaking the men's long jump record while winning the event with an NAIA B standard mark of 7.17m (23-06.25).
Also competing in the long jump were Kevin Jones and Tod Mastin who finished 16th and 17th with marks of 5.70m (18-08.5) and 5.69m (18-08), respectively.
C. Jones also competed in the triple jump where he placed second with a jump of 14.32m (46-11.75). Cedric Wilson represented the Warriors in the men's high jump where he finished fifth with a clearance of 1.94m (6-04.25).
In the throws, Keaton Miller placed 19th in the shot put with a throw of 12.44m (40-09.75) while Brayden Kermode had a personal best performance finishing 22nd with a throw of 11.54m (37-10.5). Kermode and Miller also competed in the weight throw. Kermode finished 24th with a throw of 13.00m (42-08) while Miller placed 34th with a mark of 11.16m (36-07.5).
On the track, Ian Chrisler ran personal best times in the 200m dash and 400m dash. He finished fourth in the 200m dash with a time of 24.58 and placed 11th in the 400m dash with a time of 54.28.
In the 3000m run, both Camryn Gantt and Jace Gaston had personal best times finishing seventh and 11th with times of 9:51.53 and 10:08.89, respectively.
For the women, Belle Barnett placed second in the high jump with a clearance of 1.61m (5-03.25). Briana Croisant competed in the throws for the Lady Warriors, finishing 26th in the shot put with a personal best mark of 10.00m (32-09.75). Croisant also a had a personal best performance in the weight throw with a heave of 10.70m (35-01.25) to place 30th.
On the track, Claire Miller had a strong performance in the 1000m run, finishing 12th with a personal best time of 3:25.39. Audrey Blake competed in the 1 Mile where she finished with a time of 7:29.95 to place 29th.
Sterling will finish out the regular season at the KCAC Championship in Wichita, Kan. on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 13-14.
