Four Lady Warriors earn NCCAA All-Central Region First Team
Sterling College softball received high honors from the NCCAA All-Central Region voting.
Four Lady Warriors received NCCAA All-Central Region First Team honors including left fielder Mariah Cunningham, pitcher Allie Olivarria, short stop Bryley Wesfahl and second baseman Desiree Perales.
Cunningham was also named NCCAA All-Central Region Player of the Year.
"I'm proud of Mariah Cunningham for earning Player of the Year. Her leadership and drive have been incredible. Having all four of our athletes named First Team shows the heart and commitment of this group. I couldn't be prouder of these young women," head coach Taylor Lira said.
Lira was also recognized and named NCCAA All-Central Region Coach of the Year.
"What a great honor for Coach Lira and her team. Coach Lira has done an outstanding job getting the entire softball program headed in the right direction, and we look forward to the future of Lady Warrior softball," athletic director Justin Morris said.
The Lady Warrior's season continues in the NCCAA Central Region Tournament Championship hosted in Sterling, Kan. on Monday and Tuesday, May 12-13. Sterling holds the no. 1 seed and will face no. 4 Mission University on Monday at 2:30 p.m.
