Briar earns KCAC Offensive Player of the Week

KANSAS — Kali Briar of Sterling College and Karlee Locke of Bethel College have earned the KCAC Women's Basketball Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively, the conference office announced Monday. The two student-athletes were selected for their performances from Nov. 3-9 by a vote of conference sports information directors. All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented by Athletic Solutions.
 


Offensive Player of the Week

Kali Briar - Sterling College

5-8 | Sr. | G | Sterling, Kan.


Briar had back-to-back 20-point games this week. In Sterling's game against No. 12 ranked Hastings, she totaled 26 points while dishing out four assists, shooting an impressive 66.7% from the field, including 4-7 from the three-point line. Against Oklahoma City, Briar scored 24 points while dishing out another four assists. Throughout the week, she totaled 50 points, was a perfect 13-13 from the charity stripe, and came away with six steals, 10 rebounds and one block.

Defensive Player of the Week

Karlee Locke - Bethel College

5-9 | Jr. | G | Azle, Texas


Junior guard Karlee Locke was outstanding on both ends for Bethel this week, setting the defensive tone in the Threshers' two-game stretch. Locke averaged 8.0 rebounds (averaged 6.5 rebounds on defense), 3.5 steals, and 2.0 blocks. Her performance in the win against Baker stood out, as she pulled down 13 rebounds (10 on defense) and added four steals and four blocks. Her activity, anticipation, and toughness on the perimeter consistently disrupted opposing guards and created transition opportunities.
