Vogl named KCAC Defensive Player of the Week

KANSAS — Madilyn Melton of Avila University and McKenna Vogl of Sterling College have earned the KCAC Women's Basketball Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively, the conference office announced Monday. The two student-athletes were selected for their performances from Nov. 10-16 by a vote of conference sports information directors. All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented by Athletic Solutions.
 



Offensive Player of the Week

Madilyn Melton - Avila University

6-0 | Sr. | F | Louisburg, Kan.


Melton averaged 22 points and 10 rebounds in back-to-back wins for Avila this week. She recorded a 28 and 11 double-double in Saturday's conference-opening win over Bethany ,Avila's first win in a KCAC opener since 2022. Melton is the only Eagle to score in double-figures in all five of the team's games this season,

Defensive Player of the Week

McKenna Vogl - Sterling College

6-0 | Sr. | F | Pretty Prairie, Kan.


Vogl was a beast on defense this week for the Warriors. On the week, she totaled eight steals and six blocks while collecting 11 rebounds (seven on the defensive end). In Sterling's game against William Penn, she had a game-high three blocks while collecting three steals and eight rebounds. Vogl continued to be a presence in the lane in the Warriors' conference opener against York, with five steals and three blocks in the contest.
