Lady Warriors tennis falls to Fort Hays State

On Monday, March 10, Sterling College women's tennis traveled to Hays, Kan. to take on Fort Hays State University. Although the Lady Warriors fought hard and showed promising performances, the Tigers came away with the 7-0 win.

In doubles play, Nadia Margaritov and Giovana Gaboardi took on Shreethika Vangala and Janae Montoya in the #1 doubles match where they lost 6-2. Hannah Giordanelli and Greta Fankhauser lost the #2 doubles match 6-1 against Irina Alfonso and Suzana Faucz. In the #3 doubles play, Ana Alvarez and Camila Castro Medina took on Yone Pereiro and Ines Latorre where they lost 6-1.

The Lady Warriors continued to battle in singles play but were unable to come away with a point. Alzarez lost 6-3, 6-2 to Alfonso in the #1 singles match. Margaritov played the #2 singles match against Faucz where she lost 6-1, 7-6, with a 7-3 tie breaker battle in the final set.

Gaboardi went 6-1, 6-3 in a loss to Pereiro in the #3 match, and Giordanelli lost to Gill, 6-0, 6-0, in the #4 singles match. Fankhauser represented the Warriors in the #5 singles match where she lost 6-1, 6-2 to Unruh. In the final #6 singles play, Castro Medina fell to Latorre, 6-3, 6-0.

Sterling College will be back in action on Thursday, March 13 at home against Tabor College.
