Lady Warriors sweep Swedes
Sterling College women's tennis got the 7-0 sweep against Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kan. on Saturday, March 29.
The Lady Warriors started with a strong showing in doubles play winning the no. 1 and no. 2 doubles matches to get the 2-1 doubles point.
Ana Alvarez and Nadia Margaritov got the 6-0 win no. 1 doubles match against Karee Adam and Maria Mistereck while Hannah Giordanelli and Greta Fankhauser beat Riley Ahlstedt and Makenna Russom 6-2 in the no. 2 doubles match.
The Lady Warriors had their only loss of the day in the no. 3 doubles match where Brooklyn Kuhn and Camila Castro Medina fell to Ana Sofia Castillo Paz and Helen Harbit, 6-3.
It was smooth sailing from there out for Sterling, winning all of the singles matches.
Alvarez started with the 6-3, 6-2 win over Castillo Paz in the no. 1 singles match. Margaritov followed it up with an identical 6-3, 6-2 win over Mistereck in the no. 2 match. Giordanelli went 7-5, 6-2 in the no. 3 singles contest to beat Russom.
In the no. 4 singles match, Castro Medina battled against Adam losing the first set 7-6, before winning the second set 6-1 and taking the tie breaker win 10-5. Kuhn's match at the no. 5 position also went to a tie breaker against Harbit, losing the first match 6-1 and coming back to win the second 6-3 and the tie breaker set 10-6.
Fankhauser closed things out in the no. 6 singles match with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Kelsee Adam.
The Lady Warriors will be back in action Thursday, April 3 at home as they take on the Friends University Falcons.
