Lady Warriors come up short against Bulldogs

SEWARD, Neb. – Sterling College women's tennis faced a tough match against Concordia University on Saturday, Feb. 7, coming away with a 6-1 loss to the Bulldogs.

Dana Arroyo and Greta Fankhauser teamed up to take on Mariana Molano and Alana Lopez Pagan in the No. 1 doubles match where the Warriors lost 6-3. In the No. 2 doubles match, Jessica Gautreau and Hannah Giordanelli faced Alexa Richert and Chakira Derman losing 6-0 to concede the doubles point.

In singles play, Arroyo started strong getting the 6-4, 7-6 (10-6) victory in No. 1 singles over the Bullog's Mariana Molano. In No. 2 singles, Giordanelli came up short to Derman, 6-2, 6-0. Fankhauser and Gautreau lost their No. 3 and No. 4 matches 6-0, 6-0 to Lopez Pagan and Derman, respectively. The Bulldogs also received the No. 5 and Np. 6 singles points to claim the overall 6-1 win.

Sterling will be back in action on Friday, March 6 in Baldwin City, Kan. as they take on Baker University.
