Barnett earns KCAC Women's Indoor Field athlete of the week

KANSAS — Fien Molenberg of Friends University and Belle Barnett of Sterling College have earned the KCAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors, respectively, the conference office announced Monday. The two student-athletes were selected for their performances from Jan. 26-Feb. 1 by a vote of conference sports information directors. All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented by Athletic Solutions.

Molenberg surpassed the NAIA "A" Qualifying Standard and won over a stacked field in the Women's 600 Meter run in the Wichita State Wilson Invitational with a run of 1:34:35 (converted to 1:33.21). The field included NCAA Div. I, Div. II, NAIA and junior college competitors, as Molenberg ran a time that is first in the KCAC, fourth in the NAIA, and now ranks third in school history.

Barnett had another outstanding performance at the Wichita State Wilson Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 31, winning the women's high jump with a NAIA "B" Qualifying Standard clearance of 1.66m (5-5.25), which was also a new personal best for the freshman. Her jump currently ranks second in the KCAC and is tied for 8th in the NAIA.
