Barnett, Jones both named NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week

Freshman Belle Barnett fell just short of surpassing her NCCAA best mark in the high jump for Sterling College this past week at the Friends University Spring Invitational. The native of Sterling, Kansas cleared 1.67 meters, .03 meters short of her 2026 NCCAA best mark. She took second place individually in the event out of 14 competitors, only falling to NCAA Division I Wichita State University competitor Mattelyn Swartz.

Charles Jones led Sterling College in the jumps this weekend at the Friends University Spring Invitational. The senior from Yonkers, New York finished first in the triple jump with a mark of 15.04 meters, second in the long jump at 6.86 meters, and eighth in the high jump clearing 1.93 meters to earn three top 10 finishes. Jones improved his season best in both the long jump and high jump, ranking top 10 in the NCCAA in both events. Despite not earning a new best in the triple jump, Jones continues to hold the top mark in the NCCAA for the 2026 season.
