Warriors sweep A Draw at KCAC Invitational

Sterling College men's tennis finished their fall season at the KCAC Fall Invitational in North Newton, Kan. on Saturday, Oct. 11.

All six warriors compete in the A Draw of the invitational. In the opening round, Pedro Felipoff defeated Porter Anderson of Kansas Wesleyan University 8-1, Robin Baransi lost to Bethany College's Alejandro Rico Moran 8-6, Fernando Vargas defeated Avila University's Drue Coen 8-1, Adam King defeated Ben Drinkwater of Avila 8-0, Rubem Bogomoltz lost to Moses Sawatzky of Bethel College 8-5 and Kazuki Fukushima got an 8-6 win over Paul Jittawait of Kansas Wesleyan.

Felipoff, Vargas, King and Fukushima all secured a spot in the semi-finals with a win in second round of the tournament. Felipoff defeated Rico Moran 8-2, Vargas beat Mateo Dargel of the University of Saint Mary 8-5, King beat Sawatzky 8-6 and Fukushima defeated Saint Mary's Nudem Koyuncu after a 3-2 retirement.

Felipoff advanced to the championship game after defeating Vargas 8-6 where he faced King who beat Fukushima in the semi-final game. Felipoff came away with the championship after an 8-6 win over King.

In the consolation bracket, Baransi defeated Anderson in the second round 6-2 and proceeded to defeat Amos Harder of Bethel 6-2 to make it to the consolation championship game where he lost to Jittawait. On the other side of the consolation bracket, Bogomoltz defeated Drinkwater before losing to the eventual champion Jittawait in the next round.

Sterling will be back in action in the spring season.
