Warriors battle against Collin County Community College
PLANO, Texas – Sterling College Men's Tennis competed against Collin Country Community College on Friday, March 20 in a closely contested match that left Sterling short 7-2
Collin started off the day by claiming the doubles point with two wins. In No. 1 doubles, Fernando Vargas and Kazuki Fukushima battled against Niko Nadali and Santiago Martinez but came up short 9-7. Pedro Felipoff and Rubem Bogomoltz competed in No. 2 doubles play falling 8-2 to Deniz Zehi and Boitshepo Maake.
Felipoff rebounded for the Warriors in the No. 1 singles match, defeating Luis Olivia 6-3, 6-4. In No. 2 singles play, Adam King came up short, 6-2, 6-3 to Niko Navali. Vargas came back against Maake in the No. 3 singles match, losing the first set 7-6 before winning the second set 6-3 and taking the tie-breaker 4-0.
Fukushima also found himself in a battle against Martinez in No. 4 singles play where he lost the first match 7-6 and the second 6-4. In No. 5 singles play, Bogomoltz took on Zeki losing 6-4, 6-4 to finish out play. Cassidy Kelly got the second point for the Warriors with a forfeit win in No. 6 singles.
