Sterling to host NCCAA Central Region Championships

The NCCAA Central Region Championship is set to take place on Thursday, Nov. 20, at the Gleason Center in Sterling, Kansas. This highly anticipated event will feature teams from Sterling College, Mission University and Mid-America Christian University, each bringing their competitive edge to the court. The regional championship will start at 4 p.m. with Sterling College facing off against Mission University. The winner of the match up will move on to play Mid-America Christian University at 7 p.m. in the NCCAA Central Region Championship

With a season record of 16-12, the Sterling College Lady Warriors are led by standout players such as Aliya McClanahan, who boasts 275 kills and 135 blocks. McClanahan is currently top three in the NCCAA in blocks and top 10 in hitting percentage with .341. Keala Wilson contributes significantly with 530 assists and 344 digs. Chloe Schmidt adds strength at the net with 213 kills and 95 blocks. The Lady Warriors average 11.18 kills, 10.13 assists, 1.56 aces, 16.96 digs and 2.41 blocks per set.

Holding a 15-19 record, the Mission University Patriots are powered by Shelby Evans with 291 kills. Hannah Maxwell, a top setter, has accumulated 957 assists, placing her in the NCCAA's top 10. Defensive efforts are bolstered by Allie Czachowski with 79 blocks and Rylea King with 413 digs. The Patriots average 11.18 kills, 10.28 assists, 1.73 aces, 16.15 digs, and 1.39 blocks per set.

With an 18-12 record, the Mid-Americ Christian University Eagles are led by Alica Obusekova, who has registered 307 kills this season putting in the top 10 kills in the NCCAA this season. Casady McKinney adds to the offensive with 747 assists, while Seyi Atolagbe makes her presence known at the net with 76 blocks on the season and a top 10 hitting percentage at .391 this. Ryley Bowden also strengthens the defense with 491 digs to break into the top 10 digs in the NCCAA. The Eagles average 12.64 kills, 11.92 assists, 2.08 aces, 17.93 digs, and 1.5 blocks per set.

Regular season passes do not cover admission to this championship event. Tickets can be purchased online HERE. Student tickets are priced at $7, while adult tickets are $10.
